🔭 What we're looking for

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our team of passionate engineers who share the goal of shaping the technical foundation of Petli and developing a high quality service that will improve the lives of humans and their dogs.

You will be working with the development, deployment, monitoring and scaling of our backend system that enables a feature rich API for our application. You will be a key part of building the future of Petli and helping the team reach their goals.

💪 Responsibilities

• Designing and developing new features for our backend services and refining existing functionality
• Overseeing, supporting and taking lead on technical projects and mentoring other developers in the team
• Monitoring performance, capacity and security issues to ensure optimal performance for our backend services
• Staying up to date with best practices, conducting research and implementing new technology as they become available
• Developing and supporting our backend infrastructure including databases, servers and CI/CD pipelines
• Troubleshooting and resolving bugs and issues for our users
• Being proactive and identifying risks and vulnerabilities in our systems
• Working closely with frontend developers to align on functionality and ensure compatibility

🧶 Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in computer programming, computer science, or a related field
• 5+ years of hands-on backend development experience
• Experience with Go programming language and PostgreSQL
• Experience with deploying and orchestrating microservices in Kubernetes
• Strong problem solving and verbal and written communication skills
• Follows agile, test- and data-driven development
• Has a proactive attitude and can work well both collaboratively and independently

Bonus

• Experience with mobile and web application development process
• Knowledge with GraphQL
• Experience with building a content management system (CMS)
• Experience developing scalable backend services with high request loads

🐶 About Us

Our product

Our main product today is a mobile app with dog courses and training for all ages and a budding community where Petli members can share stories of their dogs. All our educational materials are validated based on science and vetted by some of Sweden's foremost dog experts.

Within each course, dog owners receive constructive feedback from Petli's professional dog trainers and earn medals to track their progress. And within our community, people can post their experiences with their dogs and follow each other's progress.

Our team

We are a team of eight multi-national animal lovers, all dedicated to improving the lives of dogs everywhere. We come from different backgrounds, with colleagues from Sweden, the UK, Canada and Russia. Our varied experiences are the key for us to finding creative solutions and building the best product.

With a diverse team comes diverse hobbies and interests. Some have a dog, some have a cat, some like to climb, some like to travel, and some play video games. But we all believe in having fun together and creating a healthy and productive company culture where everyone matters.
